First Nationwide Text Alert Test

First Nationwide Text Alert Test – On Wednesday, October 3, 2018 around 2:18 p.m. everyone’s phone will go off at the same time with a text alert.

First Nationwide Text Alert Test

Wireless Emergency Alerts are government alerts that are texted to your mobile device. These can include Amber Alerts and Emergency Alerts dealing with weather, government, etc. President Donald Trump asked FEMA to do a nationwide test of the alert system, like they do on radio and tv. The first one will be Wednesday, October 3, 2018 around 2:18 p.m. It may take up to 30 minutes to get your alert, so by 2:48 p.m. give her take, you should have received this alert. This is also based on Eastern Standard Time.

Presidential Alert System

This test is part of the Presidential Alert System where the President can send an alert based on a crisis. This test will be done through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Unlike Amber Alerts and Weather Alerts, they target regions. The Presidential Alert will target nationwide. “Presidential Alert” and text that says: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

Unlike the Amber Alerts and Emergency Alerts you can disable, you cannot disable this type of alert. Below is instructions how to disable Amber Alerts and Emergency Alerts. Again, you cannot disable these new alerts or testing.

Wireless Emergency Alerts

This test was originally planned for September 20, but Hurricane Florence pushed it back.

I believe they plan to do a monthly test, like they do on the TV and Radio.
