Denied Military – Marine Corp

I remember in high school talking to the Marine Corps recruiter. Being in the scouts a lot of the boys that made Eagle went on to the military most of them in the Marine Corps.

I went to the military base to fill out the paperwork. I remember someone asking me do I have any medical that I need to be known. And without thinking I told them I passed kidney stones a couple years prior. I was 16 when I passed the stones.

Next thing you know the recruiter came in and said son sorry you cannot in list into the Marine Corps because of the kidney stones.

Denied Military – Air Force

I remember scoring high on the ASVAD and the Air Force wanting to talk to me. So I went to the airbase and talk to the recruiter there. That’s when someone came up to me and asked me why I was flagged by the Marine Corps on medical. I told them I pass kidney stones. And they told me I couldn’t enlist in the Air Force.

So I pretty much gave up the idea of the military then. I did not want to go into the Navy, because that’s where my dad that’s not been in my life was in. Simply because, I did not want to follow in that footsteps. I never thought about joining the Army at that time.

But I look at it like this. God had other plans for me. And it was not to be in the military but to be out of the military and do what I did. That just shows that not everyone is called to serve in the military.

I would not be the person I am today because of that.

Another random memory. This one came from the late 1990s. I know I’m getting older and possibly more forgetful. I don’t remember a lot of my past. But a few people have told me when I do I should write it down. So I figured I would share it with my readers.

I also want to thank the many men and women and their families for those who have served, currently serving or plan to serve in the future.
