Christmas Backpacks 2018

Christmas Backpacks 2018 – A program to help the poverty children of Kentucky by giving them a backpack and other stuff for Christmas to help change the life of a child.

Christmas Backpacks 2018

This is kind of similar to Operation Shoeboxes, but with backpacks and for Kentucky residents. In 2018, the Kentucky Baptist Convention wanted to collect 10,000 backpacks. You might not be from or live in Kentucky to participate. But that is the main focus of getting help from. Many of the backpacks collected will be distributed directly to children living in poverty in Kentucky, while others will go to needy children in our partner SEND City, Cincinnati.

KY Christmas Backpacks 2018 - Share the gift of love and the gospel with a child in need this Christmas.

The 2018 collection theme verse is “Let’s not neglect to do good and share what we have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16

Did you know that 26% of Kentucky’s children live in poverty? For each of these children, a backpack from Kentucky Baptists may be all they will get for Christmas. That is why this drive.  This initiative is a partnership with Kentucky Woman’s Missionary Union and Appalachian Mountain Missions.

This is something that each state should do for their own children within their state to help with poverty. I know my church does something almost like this, but we do a backpack with school supplies and give them to children in our community that is in need around the start of school each year.
