Pastors Name on the Church Sign
This might be a touchy subject, but I don’t think the pastors name should be on any church sign.
Main reason, it is not about the named pastor, but Jesus Christ. The church shouldn’t be about the pastor at the church. If the focus is on the pastor, than the church has lost its vision. I believe the church is drawing more attention to the pastor than anything else. We don’t follow pastors, we follow Christ! The pastor is just a man, just like us. He is prone to mess up, just like us. Plus, If the pastor was to leave, then you will need to replace the name. The pastor could leave due to illness, death or another job at a different church. Or even another number of reasons.
I say take the name of your pastor off your church sign and put the focus back on Christ and not a man … Your Pastor! We should have more of Christ and less of us. This includes ourselves too! In our ministry work, people should see Christ and not us! It doesn’t matter if we are the pastor or just a person in the ministry. Our focus is on Christ, not us! It’s not about what we are doing, but what Christ is doing.
When we take our eyes off Christ we begin to sink! Just like Peter. Learn about the man who walked on water.
Means our focus is on Him and Him alone. He is the center of everything! Just like a three-corded rope!
