It is the inspired and authoritative word of God, guiding believers in their journey of faith. But have you ever considered that your life, your actions, and your character might be the only Bible that someone sees? In this blog post, we will explore the idea that our lives are a translation of God’s word and reflect on the question: Are we good translations?

The Living Epistles:
The apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 3:2-3, writes, “You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” These verses remind us that our lives should be living epistles, testifying to the transforming power of Christ.

Reflecting God’s Character:
Just as a translation seeks to convey the original message faithfully, our lives should mirror the character of God. This means displaying love, compassion, forgiveness, and grace in our interactions with others. Jesus emphasized the importance of love, saying, “By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another” (John 13:35). Our actions should translate the love of God to a world in need.
Faithful and Consistent:
A good translation is faithful to the original text and maintains consistency throughout. Similarly, our Christian walk should be characterized by faithfulness to God’s Word and consistency in our beliefs and behaviors. James 1:22 encourages us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers. Our actions should align with the teachings of Scripture.
Sharing the Gospel:
Translations are meant to make the message accessible to a broader audience. As Christians, our lives should be a bridge for others to encounter the Gospel. In 1 Peter 3:15, we are urged to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” Our lives should prompt questions and curiosity about our faith.
Seeking Improvement:
Translations can be refined over time to improve accuracy and clarity. Similarly, we should continually seek spiritual growth and transformation. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that God will complete the good work He began in us. Our lives should reflect an ongoing process of becoming more Christlike. So surround yourself with other believers, do not neglect assembly with fellow believers, join small groups and study.
Conclusion:
In the end, each of us plays a unique role in translating God’s Word to the world through our lives. We are all called to share the gospel. So, as we reflect on the question, “Are you a good translation?” Let us strive to be faithful, consistent, and ever-improving reflections of God’s love and truth. May our lives be a testament to the grace and transformative power of Christ, drawing others into a deeper relationship with Him and Him alone.
