National Good Samaritan Day

National Good Samaritan Day – This day is also known as Good Samaritan Involvement Day. Pretty much a day to be unselfish and help those in need and to spread kindness.

National Good Samaritan Day

National Good Samaritan Day

National Good Samaritan Day is held annual on March 13.

It is a day to spread kindness by not being selfish, but, we don’t need one day to do this. Everyday should be Good Samaritan Day. We should be doing good and spread kindness daily. Like the Boy Scouts of American slogan, “Do A Good Turn Daily.”

The term “Good Samaritan” actually comes from the Bible. It was one of the parables that Jesus taught. The parable of the Good Samaritan is a parable told by Jesus. You can find this parable in Luke 10:25–37. In this Parable it talks about how many people including religious leaders would pass by this man because they were a Jew and he was a Samaritan. The two races didn’t have anything to do with each other. But, one Jewish man, the Good Samaritan, took him. He clothed him and fed him. Plus, he gave him shelter. He paid the price for that man.

Today the term is described by people who perform acts of kindness to those in need, especially to strangers.

Start of this day

This day got its start on March 13, 1964 where Catherine “Kitty” Genovese was stabbed to death. People believe her neighbors could have done something to help her on that day. None of them came to her aide. This occurded in New York City, NY. It is said if a “Good Samaritan” came to her aide, then she might have survived that night. Reports say her killer was interrupted two times. Both of those times it was said neighbors and passersby witnessed that.  None of them even called the police. It wasn’t until the third and successful attempt that someone called the police. However, it was too late then.

The creator of this day is unknown, but that is the story that goes along with this day. Like I mentioned above, we don’t need to do this one day week, we should be a “Good Samaritan” daily. We don’t need a reason to help others, as Christians, we should help each others without even thinking.

Pay it Forward kind of thing too!

This day is also celebrated annually on October 13.

It has been celebrated then since 2012. This one was created by Richard Lutz. I couldn’t find much more on the one celebrated this day.

I think everyday we would be a Good Samaritan!

The Red & Black Ant Analogy — Understanding the True Enemy — In the natural world, there’s a fascinating phenomenon involving ants. If you place 100 black ants and 100 red ants in a jar, they coexist peacefully. However, if the jar is shaken, chaos ensues. The ants, now agitated, begin to attack each other, perceiving their fellow jar-mates as the enemy. This behavior provides a poignant metaphor for human society, where often the true adversary is not the one who appears different from us, but rather the one who incites division.
