This day is celebrated two times a  year. It is observed the last Friday in February and the third Friday in November. In 2021, February 26, 2020, and November 19, 2021. In November it also coincides with Anti-bullying week.

According to stopbullying.gov – Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems.

Those taking a STAND is asked to wear a pink “pledge shirt” or a pink shirt in general.

The first occurance was in February 2008. However, it has been reported that David Shepherd and Travis Price founded this day in 2007.Both of which were Nova Scotian 12th graders that year. Both these Seniors bought 50 pink shirts at a discount store. They emailed their classmates and urged them to get and wear pink shirts. The went and created a “sea of pink” to support the bullied student.

So I encourage you to get your Pink On and STAND UP to Bullying!

  • The Red & Black Ant Analogy — Understanding the True Enemy
The Red & Black Ant Analogy — Understanding the True Enemy — In the natural world, there’s a fascinating phenomenon involving ants. If you place 100 black ants and 100 red ants in a jar, they coexist peacefully. However, if the jar is shaken, chaos ensues. The ants, now agitated, begin to attack each other, perceiving their fellow jar-mates as the enemy. This behavior provides a poignant metaphor for human society, where often the true adversary is not the one who appears different from us, but rather the one who incites division.
