International Holocaust Remembrance Day – A day to remember the tragic events of the Holocaust that occurred during the Second World War (World War II).

This is a day set aside to remember the six million Jews who perished during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was carried out by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Germany as part of a Jewish resistance. Plus, it also helps to promote Holocaust Education too.

Celebrated the 27th of January

January 27th of each year is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The International one was done by United Nations General Assembly. Which is also celebrated by these countries: United States, European Union, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom on January 27th.

Celebrated the 27th of Nisan

However, In Israel, Holocaust Remembrance Day, is held on a different day, 27th of Nisan (April/May) in the Hebrew Calendar.  Plus these countries also celebrate it on the 27th of Nisan. Alberta, Manitoba and Nova Scotia, Canada, and many Jewish communities in other countries.

Yom Hazikaron laShoah ve-laG’vurah (יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה; “Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day”), known colloquially in Israel and abroad as Yom HaShoah (יום השואה) and in English as Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Holocaust Day
