When it comes to reaching the age of 50, some may view it as a midpoint, halfway through the journey of life. However, as believers, we can approach this milestone with a different perspective, understanding that 50 is only middle age if we are planning to live to be 100. Shane Phillips our Worship Leader at church says “50 is only middle age if you are planing to live to be 100.” Since I am closing in on the end of my 40’s in a few years I figured I’d make an early blog post on that. Maybe revisit this blog post in a few years.
Aging: A Blessed Journey:
Age is a gift from God, a testament to His faithfulness and love for us. Each passing year is an opportunity to grow in wisdom, deepen our relationship with God, and serve Him with greater fervor. Instead of focusing on the number, let us celebrate the experiences, lessons, and relationships that have shaped us throughout the years.
A Renewed Perspective on Midlife:
Midlife is often associated with a sense of transition and reflection. However, as Christians, we can view it as a season of renewed purpose and passion. Rather than seeing it as a downhill slide, we can see it as an uphill climb, a time to reassess our goals, dreams, and aspirations in light of God’s calling for our lives.
The Fulfillment of Purpose:
God has a unique purpose for each of our lives, regardless of our age. As we reach the age of 50, we can reflect on the first half of our lives and discern how God has worked through us. We can seek His guidance and direction for the second half, asking Him to reveal His purpose and use us for His kingdom in even greater ways.
Investing in Relationships:
One of the most significant aspects of life is the relationships we build along the way. Our 50s can be a time to invest in meaningful connections with family, friends, and the wider community. By nurturing these relationships, we can leave a lasting impact on the lives of others, demonstrating God’s love and grace through our actions. Invest in others by discipline making!
Embracing Spiritual Growth:
Our journey of faith is not confined to a particular age or season. At 50, we can deepen our spiritual growth, seeking a closer walk with God and a greater understanding of His Word. Let us commit ourselves to prayer, studying Scripture, and participating in fellowship, knowing that our spiritual growth is a lifelong process.
