Who is Dr. David Jeremiah

Dr. David Jeremiah is a well-known evangelical Christian leader, author, and broadcaster. He is the founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries, which reaches millions of people around the world with the message of the Gospel. He is also the senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, a Southern Baptist megachurch in El Cajon, California. In this blog post, we will explore his life, ministry, and legacy.

David Paul Jeremiah was born on February 13, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, to Ruby and James T. Jeremiah, a Baptist pastor and college president. He grew up in a Christian home and felt called to ministry at a young age. He graduated from Cedarville College in 1963, where he met his wife, Donna Thompson. He then earned his Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967, and completed additional graduate work at Grace Seminary in 1972.

Jeremiah began his pastoral ministry in 1969, when he founded Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He also started Blackhawk Christian School in 1973, and The Bible Hour, a radio program that gave him experience in media ministry. Under his leadership, the church grew from seven families to 1,300 members in 12 years.

In 1981, Jeremiah moved to Southern California, where he succeeded Tim LaHaye as the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, later renamed Shadow Mountain Community Church. He also founded Turning Point for God, a multi-media broadcast ministry that produces radio and television programs, podcasts, books, magazines, and online resources. Turning Point’s mission is to deliver the unchanging Word of God to an ever-changing world. According to its website, Turning Point reaches over 200 countries and territories with the Gospel, and has over 2.5 million listeners and viewers each week.

Jeremiah is also a prolific author, having written more than 50 books, many of which have been bestsellers. Some of his most popular titles include God Has Not Forsaken You, Agents of the Apocalypse, What in the World Is Going On?, The God You May Not Know, and Forward. His books cover topics such as prophecy, spiritual growth, prayer, and Christian living. He also writes a monthly devotional magazine called Turning Points, which has over 10 million readers worldwide.

Jeremiah is not only a successful minister and author, but also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife, Donna, have been married for 58 years, and have four children, Janice, David Michael, Jennifer, and Daniel, who are all involved in ministry. They also have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jeremiah has faced some challenges and trials in his life, such as being diagnosed with lymphoma in 1994, and undergoing several surgeries and treatments. He has also endured criticism and controversy for some of his views and associations, such as his support for President Donald Trump, his involvement in the Council for National Policy, and his endorsement of the Prosperity Gospel. However, he has remained faithful and steadfast in his service to God and his people, and has inspired many with his courage and resilience.

Jeremiah is widely regarded as one of the most influential and respected evangelical Christian leaders in America and around the world. He has received numerous awards and honors, such as the National Religious Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame Award, the Christian Booksellers Association’s Gold Medallion Award, and the Cedarville University’s Alumni of the Year Award. He has also been featured in various media outlets, such as Fox News, CNN, Time, Newsweek, and Christianity Today.
