Not sure why but I felt I should share about this. So here we go. This will be this weeks Christian Music Monday feature blog post.

“Buy me a boat” and “Build me a boat” are two different requests that someone can make, with different implications and consequences.

“Buy me a boat” implies that the person wants you to purchase a pre-existing boat for them, either as a gift or as a request. This request suggests that the person may not have the means to purchase a boat themselves or may not want to spend their own money on it.

On the other hand, “Build me a boat” implies that the person wants you to construct a boat for them. This request requires a certain level of skill and effort, and may take a significant amount of time and resources to complete. This request suggests that the person may not have the ability or resources to build the boat themselves or may not want to do it themselves. They are asking for you to build it with them.

Overall, the difference between “Buy me a boat” and “Build me a boat” is that the former involves purchasing an existing boat, while the latter involves constructing a boat from scratch.

Buy me a boat

The song “Buy Me a Boat” was written by Chris Janson and Chris DuBois. Chris Janson is an American country music singer and songwriter. Chris DuBois is also a country music songwriter and music executive, who has co-written many hit songs for various country music artists. “Buy Me a Boat” was released as a single by Chris Janson in 2015 and became his first Top 5 hit on the US Country charts.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Chris Janson explained that the song was inspired by his experiences growing up in a small town in Missouri and his dream of owning a boat. He said that the song reflects his belief that “you don’t have to have a ton of money to live the good life,” and that the simple pleasures, such as fishing and spending time on the water, are what make life worthwhile.

The lyrics of the song also touch on themes of hard work and perseverance, as Janson sings about the sacrifices he has made to achieve his goals and the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with owning a boat.

Yes this could say I’m buying me a boat instead of asking for someone to buy him one.

Build me a boat

The Christian song “Build A Boat” is written by Colton Dixon, David Garcia, and Ben Glover. Colton Dixon is an American Christian pop rock artist, who rose to fame as a contestant on the eleventh season of American Idol in 2012. “Build Me a Boat” was released in 2017 as a single from his album “Identity.”

The song’s lyrics are inspired by the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, and use the metaphor of building a boat to express the idea of finding refuge and salvation in God’s love. The lyrics talk about how we can sometimes feel lost and overwhelmed in life, but that we can always turn to God for guidance and protection. The chorus includes the lyrics:

“Build me a boat, I’m going to sail away Far from the shore, where the darkness fades I’m gonna set my sail, for the kingdom come Build me a boat, build me a boat, build me a boat”

Musically, the song features an energetic pop rock sound with electronic elements, and showcases Colton Dixon’s powerful vocals. “Build Me a Boat” was well-received by fans and critics, and is considered one of the standout tracks on the “Identity” album.

Build A Boat Lyrics

I’ve been wandering through the desert
Ain’t seen a cloud in forever over me
But I believe Your rain is coming, mm
Yeah, I’ve been hanging onto high hopes
‘Cause You’re the one who’s making dry bones come to life
You’re the light I put my trust in

Every word You say is gonna come true
You will lead me to the promised land
Everything You say is gonna happen
Even though I haven’t seen it yet

I will build a boat in the sand where they say it never rains
I will stand up in faith, I’ll do anything it takes
With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades
I’ll build a boat in the desert place
And when the flood and the water starts to rise, yeah
I’ll ride the storm ’cause I got You by my side
With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades
I’ll build a boat, so let it rain

You’re the map, You’re my compass
You help me navigate the currents underneath
Take the lead, I surrender

Every word You say is gonna come true
You will lead me to the promised land
Everything You say is gonna happen
Even though I haven’t seen it yet

I will build a boat in the sand where they say it never rains
I will stand up in faith, I’ll do anything it takes
With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades
I’ll build a boat in the desert place
And when the flood and the water starts to rise, yeah
I’ll ride the storm ’cause I got You by my side
With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades
I’ll build a boat, so let it rain
I’ll build a boat, so let it rain

I will build a boat in the sand where they say it never rains
I will stand up in faith, I’ll do anything it takes
With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades
I’ll build a boat in the desert place
And when the flood and the water starts to rise, yeah
I’ll ride the storm ’cause I got You by my side
With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades
I’ll build a boat, so let it rain

So both ways a person ends up with a boat. But in the Bible God didn’t tell Noah to buy a boat but to build a boat. So he acted out on faith and built the Ark.
