This Memorial Day is not like any other Memorial Days with the pandemic and social distancing. Usually Boy Scout Troops place American Flags on the graves of soldiers all over the United States. But not this year, 2020!

It was their way to honor the veterans.

This year the Department of Veteran’s Affairs has prohibited public events at the sites because of COVID-19. The Boy Scouts and other groups have been barred from carrying out the mass flag placements.

It is not just the Boy Scouts, but also the Girl Scouts, Church Groups or any other groups.

It won’t be the same, I guess we must find other ways to honor those veterans in the graves. Just like we have had to find other ways to do business, church, graduation, etc.

My question is, will that still stop people from doing it themselves?

Check out how Memorial Day differs from Veteran’s Day!

  1. There have been no reports or a scientific proof coronavirus is rampant or widespread in youth. Our seniors are vulnerable and statistically shown to have the majority of the incidences of death. The scouts outside in sunlight with young leaders could easily honor our fallen without provoking unproven fears of increasing risk of spread.
