Tennessee lawmakers have proposed again to make the Holy Bible the state’s official state book. Where Senator Mark Pody and Representative Jerry Sexton introduced SB 2696 and HB 2778 last week.

It was last put up in 2016, then-Governor Bill Haslam vetoed the proposal and said it violated a clause in the First Amendment.

If passed, the bill would legally designate the Holy Bible as Tennessee’s official state book.

This will be the third attempt I believe. 2015 and 2016 the prior two times.
