40 Years Old!

I am now 40, that means I am 4 decades old now. Time flies by the older you get. It is hard to believe that I am in my 40’s. It is also heard to believe that I have an adult child now too.

There is an old saying that came to my mind. Lordy, Lordy Looks Who’s 40! You ever hear that? But age is just a number, you are only as old as you feel or allow yourself to feel.

Sometimes I feel younger than my age and other times I feel older than being 40 years old. It is funny when I do the Wii Fit thing, it tells me my fitness age is older than I am. I even did one of those scales that takes your BP and all at a grocery story and it told me my fitness age was older than I am. So I guess I am not in shape. I knew that.

Some say at this age you are over the hill, while other say when you turn 50.

I know this next decade, 10 years, will fly by and soon I will be turning 50. During my 40 years of life, I have got to see a lot of changes occur. The way technology has improved and what we can do with it. I am sure within the next 10 years, the technology will be much more advanced. That is if the Lord is willing and the creek don’t rise.

We are never promised tomorrow. That is why it important to know you have a relationship with Jesus Christ. We never know when our time is up. Either God will call us home or Jesus Christ will come for His Church and take us all.

What does the Bible say about 40 (forty) years?

Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.
Here Genesis 25:20 Isaac got married when he was 40 years old, the age I am now. Even Esau was forty years old when he got married, Genesis 26:34.
And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.
Exodus 16:35 shows us that the children of Israel ate the manna that God provided for them for 40 years. That would be my entire life at the time of this blog post was published.
Joshua 14:7 – Joshua says he was forty years old when he was sent out to be a spy.
King David reigned as king of Israel for forty years (2 Samuel 5:4 – 1 Kings 2:11). Even King Solomon reigned for forty years (1 Kings 11:42 – 2 Chronicles 9:30). Jehoash also reigned for forty years. (2 Kings 12:1). The same with Joash he reigned for forty years. (2 Chronicles 24:1). Saul reigned for forty years too. (Acts 13:21)

It seems a lot of the kings reigned for forty years.

The Bible has other uses of forty like forty days. Like it rained for forty days and forty nights during the flood. (Genesis 7 & Genesis 8). Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. Forty is used in a variety of other ways through the Bible too, for counting cows and more. Even like usage of forty like forty-five or eight hundred and forty years. According to BibleGateway.com the usage of forty is used 147 times.
