What do you call a puzzle with one piece?

While riding in the car the other day my daughter asked me this question.

What do you call a puzzle with one piece?

I wasn’t really sure. I have never heard this joke before. She then tells me the answer. She tells me a picture. That made me start to think some. I figured this would turn into a good blog post. So that is exactly what I am doing now. I am going to talk about a picture for a short little post.

We are one in Christ

A picture shows completeness, oneness. A piece shows part of something. We can have this oneness in Christ. Also another way to look at this is, we are unique and different, a piece of the puzzle. But we bring all of us together, united, we become the complete picture. When we do that in the name of Jesus we all become one, we become united, a picture you can say. Just as my daughter asked what is a puzzle with one piece? It’s a picture.

1 Corinthians 12:12 talks about the body being many (puzzle pieces) but together we form one body (a picture). In this time body, it is referring to the church. We all have many different gifts. Each gift helps to make the church function as a whole, as one.

Other places in the Bible does it mention being one as well. Christ is what unites all of us together. Instead of us being just a piece of the puzzle, we are a completed picture with Him.

Same applies when a man and woman marry, they become one as well. They are no longer two inanities but one flesh. Act together in one. No longer are they separate or 2 puzzle pieces but one complete picture.

Anytime we unit together in Christ we come one, we become a picture. So let’s become a picture and spread the Word of God to all the nation.

Below are some Bible scriptures on being one.

1 Corinthians 12:12

“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.”

Romans 12:4-5

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

1 Corinthians 10:17

“Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.”

1 Corinthians 12:27

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Genesis 2:24

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

  1. I love that we get to each be a piece of God’s largest picture. Part of His greatest story ever told. A God who includes each of us. He considers us valuable, cherished. And then expects us to treat one another the same… it’s powerful.
