Using your gifts to help the church

God has given each and every one of us special gifts (talents) to use. We need to use these talents to best of God’s ability in witnessing & to help the church. The church is one body with many parts. Each person is a part of the church. We need to give service to our church, not just by faithfully attending, but help out where needed. Like being an usher, help clean the church, fix stuff around the church. Take part in the service, lesson plans, Sunday School, children/youth ministry, etc. The list can go on and on.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10).

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

For just as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body– though many – are one body, so too is Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12)

My church, I have been asked to be an usher. A church I went to when I was a youth, while I was a youth, I got to do the sound system. The church I am a member of wants me to learn to use their sound system and help out that way. Plus, help with the CD ministry, making copies of the sermons on CD. Plus, I have been asked about helping with social media for the church. I even help ride in the van for picking up members and children to go to church.

June 2012, was no exception, I went and helped the Pastor, along with 2 other men of the church. We helped set up for Vacation Bible School that starts June 4th. Me and Justin did the backdrops putting it up. We had poster boards and put them up. We also use stuff around the church decorations and posters from past events that still can tie with this years Vacation Bible School. The pastor helped around where he could.

We had Patrick another member make this awesome replica of an airplane. He used an old drum barrel, fan motor and make a propeller like. He cut building foam and made what looks liked an airplane. It is awesome looking. Below is that picture.

It was a great and wonderful feeling helping my church like that. Also step up and find a way to help your church. There are many ways you can do help.

Christ died for our sins, we have to tell the world what Christ has done. We owe it to Christ to do that and to help his church. The church is referred as the Bride of Jesus.

I first published this June 2, 2012. Since then, I have been blessed to serve in several places in the church and benefiting the Kingdom of God. I help with the youth, I help on vans and drive them, I help where ever needed, special events and more. I even help by doing graphic design and design flyers for the church and events coming up. I even help set up Vacation Bible School each year and other special events too.

There are plenty of places where you can serve or use your talent for the church. Maybe you can be like Patrick and can something like this airplane. We even have a guy at our church, Larry who is blessed with artistic ability and makes a lot of back drops and such from painting foam boards.  He even made a tree house for this past Vacation Bible School.

You know when we use our talent for God it becomes a gift to Him. We must use what God blessed us with to help benefit His Kingdom, after all that is why he gave us the gives and talents we use.
