Townsend Celebrating Christmas with Crosses

Townsend Christmas CrossesAround 30 businesses, homes and churches in Townsend, TN are decorating Christmas with crosses. These are wooden crosses with LED lights on them. They are calling this “Christmas Crosses”. The quiet side of the Smokies is getting their message out about Christmas. (Townsend, TN connections Pigeon Forge, TN area to Maryville, TN via 321.)

Christmas Crosses was started who wanted Christ in their town and for it to stand out. The family that started hopes that when people see it that will want to do the same thing for their town.

Most of these business have only put up the single cross as decoration. These crosses are to help remind us that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ. As Johnny Johnson, a Townsend resident says “We’re celebrating a birthday … Christ’s birthday.”

According to WBIR there will a free concert by the Maryville College Choir Ensemble on December 6, 2015 at the Barn Event in Townsend.  Admission is free. With WVLT reported the concert to start at 7 p.m.
