The Hand of God

I am not sure if you all have seen this image floating around from NASA, naming it “The Hand of God“. The image from  NASA, JPL-Caltech, McGill is below.

So you think this could really be the hand of God and God is trying to get our attention? What ever the cause of this to form like that, I do personally believe God did this. He is the creator of everything including the universe and what we call outer space.

According to NBC News web site, it says that this formed when a star explodes (super nova) and ejects an enormous cloud of material to form pulsar wind nebula. The image was collected on a Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array or known as a NuSTAR. It basically makes takes an X-Ray image of the material.

Tanya Lewis, staff writer for space.com, states image was a “pareidolia,” or “psychological phenomenon of perceiving familiar shapes in random or vague images.”

I am sure we all are familiar with these pareidolia’s, as we have people showing off pieces of bread or other food items they claim to look like someone or something, including some that believe to look like Jesus.

Even those these pareidolia’s are caused by super natural phenomena, I personally believe that is God the one making these wonderful images for us. He after all is the creator of them! Nevertheless, with my faith in God, I would say this is the hand of God, he is trying to show us He still in control, he has the World in His hands.

One person on Facebook told me there is a place in the Bible that mentions about a cloud and size of a man’s hand. Here is that verse, it is found in 1 Kings 18:44 …

On the seventh time, he reported, “There’s a cloud as small as a man’s hand coming from the sea.” Then Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Get your chariot ready and go down so the rain doesn’t stop you.'”

What do you think?
Do you think this could be the Hand of God?

  1. I agree with that Adrienne, & after all the horsehead nebula is not a real horses head or horse hind end either. But this is God’s creation & beautiful to me!!!!

  2. Nice observation with Scripture reference. Everything is possible with God, although I don’t believe this the physical hand of GOD, I do believe it’s the GLORY. God speaks, things happen!

  3. I agree with Adrienne Jamison. But it is very interesting. I also like the one that looks like an eye. We have the all-seeing eye of God and the omnipotent hand of God…

  4. a beautiful picture of the reality of what the Psalms told us centuries ago… “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Ps 19:1

  5. perhaps it is a sign that will cause us to wonder at the greatness of the God who created all we can and cannot see. Maybe it is a sign to cause us to be amazed at the greatness of His love and care for us.
