Stop Saying I Gave My Heart to Jesus

Christians should stop saying I gave my heart to Jesus, we are told to give more, our whole bodies as a living Living Sacrifice, deny ourselves and take up our cross because we were bought with a price and we are not our own.

Living Sacrifice

We are told to be a living sacrifice for Jesus. We are to die for Him! We are to use ourselves to the fullest power through Him to make Him known to others, even at the point of death, prison, mocked, beat, etc. We were created by Him for Him!

Being a living sacrifice is self giving, that you give yourself to God to do His will.

Adam Clark made a good point a living sacrifice is the opposite of what they traditionally sacrificed, that was dead. That means we must work till Jesus come back or calls us home to glory.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2

No where does it say give just your heart to Him. Nor does it say from our head up! It tells us to give our all, our whole body!

Bought with a Price & Bodies Temple of God

We were bought with a price. The precious blood of Christ paid a debt we could never repay. Christ paid the debt that He didn’t owe. Because we were paid for, we belong to Him. Because we have been bought with a price, we do belong to Him to do His will. Our bodies are His bodies. We are the temple to tell others about Christ. This I believe is why we the people, make the church, not the building. We are told to go!

He died to set us free. Free of the bondage of sin because of this he bought us with a price, like that of a payment of a slave, however, Christ saved us from those chains of sin. Sin is what enslaves us!

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
1 Corinthians 7:23

Again no where does it say give just your heart to Him. Nor does it say from our head up! It tells us to give our all, our whole body!

Deny Yourself

We are also told to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. That means we must go and share the gospel of Christ to the lost and dying world. We must not give into our flesh. We must do the will of God and not the will of man. God comes first! Denying ourselves does involve giving up many of the worldly things we desire in order to share the gospel. We cannot be ashamed of sharing the gospel of Christ either! Part of denying yourself is giving up your life for Christ. Not it says daily, that means a continuous action, ongoing.

Taking up our cross, shows that we will be willing to die for Christ sake. After all those who die for Him gain their life. So we must freely give our lives for Him.

23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
Luke 9:23-26

Again no where does it say give just your heart to Him. Nor does it say from our head up! It tells us to give our all, our whole body!

Remember it’s all about Him and nothing else. He is first! He is the one that died to save us! He is the one we answer to on judgement day.
