Run To God Not Away From God

Run To God Not Away From God – We should run to God in the trials and storms and not away from God. Run to Him even when we don’t feel like running, going the other way or hiding. Here are four ways to help us run to God instead of running away from God.

Run To God Not Away From God

Yes when we go through these trials in storms it’s easy for us to run from God or try to hide. But remember God knows all and God sees out we cannot hide (Adam and Eve found that out) from God and we cannot run from God. Even Jonah found out you cannot run from God. God knows all and sees all.

Run To God Not Away From God

I feel God led this blog post on my heart because it’s something I’m going through right now. I am going through a storm and trial, I know God has a plan and purpose for it. See Romans 5:1-5 and James 1:2-8, verses below.

Romans 5:1-5 New King James Version (NKJV)

Faith Triumphs in Trouble

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

These trails help build us of who we are now.

James 1:2-8 New King James Version (NKJV)

Profiting from Trials

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

We need to ask for Wisdom and understand.

God knows what I am going through, right now it is not the time to share that directly here. When that time is right, God will lay it on my heart to share with you my readers. That might be when this storm or trial is over and I endured it. Enduring this storm and trail can lead to another testimony on how God delivered you out. Just keep me in you prayers if you don’t mind. When that time is right, I know that it will be good and help other people who are going through a similar storm. Most of the time, that is why we go through some, so we can help others.

Here are four ways to help us to Run To God Not Away From God

  1. Prayers

We should be in prayer with God, we should pray even when we don’t feel like praying. Pray without ceasing! That means never ending. That means we need to pray in the storms and the trails. We also need to pray in the good times too. It can be hard to pray in the tough times, sometimes that is when it seems we pray the most, but we don’t need to give up praying. It is a continued state of prayer too. It is okay to ask others for prayer. You don’t have to give them details, just tell them to pray for you and that God knows.  1 Thessalonians 5:17

  1. Worship

Most of the time, people stop going to church and stop worshiping. They tend to blame God. They tend to get angry toward God. This is what happens when we run. Instead we need to stay in worship. We need to continue to go to church. We are told not to neglect assembly with fellow believers. So stay in church, don’t give up on church or stop going because of the storm you are in. The church is where you need to be to be fed! God has a message waiting for you, you cannot hear it staying focused on the storm you are in. Give it to Him! Continue to go to church and be in worship even if you don’t feel like it. Hebrews 10:25

  1. Staying in the Word

One other way we can run to God is staying in His Word, reading the Bible. Some people when they tend to run from God, will neglect His time and stop reading the Bible. When these storms and trails hit, that is where were will find the answer, which is Jesus. God’s Word is a living Word, it speaks to us. God has a message for us in His Word. We just need to open it up and read the message and let God have the control in the situation. God will direct you to the passages you need to read. So continue to read the Bible even if you don’t feel like reading it. Joshua 1:8 – Hebrews 4:12 – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – Psalm 119:11

  1. Seek Godly Friends

We should seek out godly friends. Remember a true friend will bring you closer to God, not away from God. Seek out a friend that you can trust and that is godly. Your pastor can be one, but if you cannot go to your pastor, go to a friend that you know walks with the Lord. The Bible tells us to choose our friends wisely and this is one of the reasons why. You will want a friend that will help carry the load. We are told to bare one another burdens. A lot of the Proverbs talks about choosing your friends wisely. Galatians 6:2-5 – Proverbs 17:17 – Proverbs 18:24 – Proverbs 27:5-6 – Proverbs 27:17

Closing

Run To God Not Away From God, we should think of it as a race or a fight. Paul who wrote most of the New Testament tells us to fight the good fight and win the race. We must keep pressing on no matter what. We must keep on going. Our prize is Jesus and our reward in Heaven. It is a Heavenly treasure. Remember Jesus is the answer to everything. We need to stay focused on Him! He is our prize!

Remember that everything is in God’s timing. It is not our timing, we are too impatient. We must wait on the Lord. Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. It is important to put our total trust in God and know that He has it and will take care of us and will provide for us. Besides we are in the hands of God, nothing can pluck us from His hands. John 10:28-30. That is the safest place of all to be in.

So press on and run toward the goal! That is Jesus Christ! When you endured that storm, you will have another powerful testimony to share on how you over came that storm or trial. So Run To God Not Away From God!

  1. Ah, yes. PATIENCE & ENDURANCE when we are going through it all! In the Letter of James, he tells us to be “patient” [as you wait]” (James 4:7). Now that might be easy for some to say to us in the midst of “stuff”–BUT… Then James compares waiting in patience with a “farmer”: “Autumn and Spring rains.” The planted seed (God’s Word) is nourished by the Fall rains, then refreshed in the Spring by rain at the harvest. And then James adds (verse 8): “So you must be patient. Establish your hearts [strengthen and confirm them in the final certainty], for the coming of the LORD is very near.”

  2. It’s easy to read the story of Adam & Eve who hid from God and Jonah who took a ship in the opposite direction from where God told him to go, and think their stories are amusing… after all, who would be so silly to try to run from the Lord, yet we all do the exact same thing when trouble comes our way. We hid in work, relationships, pleasure or all kinds of other things. We think security is in hiding, but the opposite is true. as you explained, healing, wholeness and security comes from running to Him not away. I pray that God will give you clarity and a new revelation of Him as you make your way through your difficulties. He is your rock and an ever-present help in time of need.

    1. Amen thanks for your comment. Yes it’s easy to run away from Him and hard to run to Him. But we can’t hide and running away won’t do good either. He will seek out our attention one way or another.

  3. Patience and endurance are vital in this Chrisitan life but sometimes it is difficult to live out. We always need to pray so that we will continue to always have the mind of Christ, especially during our trials.
