Replace the word love with Jesus then compare it to your name

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

*Some translations use the word Charity for love.

With Jesus

Jesus suffers long and is kind; Jesus does not envy; Jesus does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Jesus never fails.

Your name

I use my name here, so change Steve to your name, unless it’s Steve.

Steve suffers long and is kind; Steve does not envy; Steve does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Steve never fails.

The Greatest of These

When you Replace the word love with Jesus then compare it to your name, how did you compare to Jesus? I am sure if you are like me, you couldn’t compare with Jesus at all! Now lets look at the last verse in that chapter. That would be verse 13.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Let’s look at the last part … The Greatest of these is love. Well we can say the greatest of these is Jesus. But can we say the greatest of these is, your name. For example. I know I cannot say the greatest of these is Steve.

Closing

Love is expressed in Jesus! Only Jesus can fill each one of these areas! That is why Jesus is the greatest of these too. I am glad that only Jesus can full each one of these. Jesus is the one who died in our place for our sins too! We as sinners cannot keep all of these love verses.

If you look at these we all can be unkind and rude at times. We often like to boast or parade ourselves in what we do. We often envy or covenant what others have or don’t have. Today seem self seeking, instead of seeking the best interest of others. We can fail other peoples. Jesus on the other was always kind and never rude. He didn’t boast in himself or parade around others. He never envied.

Best part is I am glad that Jesus never fails. Jesus will never forsake us nor leave us. We are the ones that leave Him. He never fails us, but we sure do fail Him and others. He is the good shepherd and seeks after us. Jesus sought out the interest of others by coming in as a servant and not looking to be served. Each one of these points Jesus done in what is called the love chapter of the Bible.
