Red Alert! Raise your Shields!

The shield of God is protection from the devil. The comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10). The battle is for souls.

Red Alert! Raise your Shields!

Shield of Faith. Having the shield of faith. You have Faith in God. You trust in God and He will take care of you. He will take away all fire and evil by having the shield of faith. This was to protect us from attacks. The devil likes to throw fiery arrows at us. When linked with others in armor the shields made a housing like to protect. Also again, staying in the word is what helps protect us from those darts. This way we can tell if any false or bad arrows are coming at us.

Shields Up! The shield is also part of the Armor of God. With this shield of faith and trust in God. It gives us total protection. We have to stand behind the shield for that protection. We must have trust and faith in God. This is part of the personal safety equipment you carry to defend yourself from the evil one (devil). Almost like you wear personal safety equipment at certain types of jobs like construction sites. (PPE)

The Shield of Faith (Shield of God) can extinguish all fiery arrows (attacks) of the devil.

Remember the devil has a full line of arrows in his quiver. He will try his best to tempt us, distract us and push us away from God. Remember the devil knows God is real. Why do you think he is trying his best to keep us from him? Take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

Shield of Faith Against the Fiery Darts (Take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.) Armor of God.
Shield of Faith Against the Fiery Darts

Biblical Roman Shield

The Biblical shields were made of wood and used mainly by the Roman soliders. They would use water on their shields, soak them in water. These shields would measure 4 to 5 feet tall and 2 feet wide.

A Buckler is another name for a shield. It also had coverings of leather, linen and often finished with brass or a bronze rim. Most Roman shields has lightening bolts or eagle wings on them.

These shields were also often rounded shape and covered them at least around three sides of them.

Even David in Psalms describes God as a shield that surrounds Him.

Never meant to fight alone

We were never meant to fight the battle alone. We have Christ with us. Not to mention we need our church to help with this spiritual warfare. Our fellow brothers/sisters in Christ need to unite to help. We must take care of ourselves and trust in God to take care of us. That is having faith when we trust in God to take care of us. He is always there with us.

Remember the church won’t grow until we totally get serious about the Faith of God. Remember the church is like a testudo (tortoise) of the roman soldiers. They form like a shell around everyone to have the shields raised and surrounding everyone. This was like a human tank. Usually in a rectangle formation.

Remember Iron strengthens iron. (Proverbs 27:17)

Long Ranger Christian

If you are the type of person that goes from 1 church to another church or go only certain times then you are not gaining the proper Faith in God.

Lord is our shield

The Lord is our shield. He is our protector. The Shield of faith covered all. It is real time faith in God. Present tense. Not past victories, not future either. The Right now and in real time! Right Now God! The shield of faith is our first line of defense.

David went to sleep knowing he trusted in God. (see this post: Sermon on Sleeping).

The Battle is the Lords

Remember the battle is the Lords. Not ours.  We need to Walk by Faith – Not Sight!

Arrows the Devil shoots

  1. Liar
    See John 8:44
Devil will make it seem true. He will say God has more to say etc. Oh It won’t hurt if you did it just this once. Don’t believe it! It’s all a lie!
God cares about you and your life!
  2. Lust
Money crazy, Money can’t satisfy you.
Devil will say party like a rock star.
People buy into it (Drugs, Drinking, Sex, etc.)
Devil will also say to be happy, you can be happy doing that.
    World don’t care about adultery.
Devil will say you are entitled to it.
Devil will make it all worldly!
    It ain’t true!
  3. Anger
This can can lose your testimony.
Anger is one letter from being Danger!
The devil wants to control us when we get angry.
He will make you think you have no control or no power.
  4. Untruths
The devil will send false teachings/preachers your way.
He wills end false theological thoughts to you.
    Also falso philosophies too.

My shield!

The object of my faith is the Lord Jesus Christ, whom is my shield. My glory, the lifter of my head. Nothing is impossible with God! In order to use the shield you must have total trust and faith in God. If you don’t have faith you cannot please God.

Soak your shields in Christ so that the arrows will be distinguished when they hit you. Absorb the Word of God and keep faith and know God has it under His control. It is when we lower our shields the devil will get to us.

Soaking your shields in water involves knowing God, Studying God’s Word, being in prayer, Worship, fellowship, being a servant to others. Stay in God’s Word! Read and Study your Bible.

Substance in hope

There is substance in what we hope for that’s not seen.

David prayed and God Word from God.

God has a shield for you. He will guard you and protect you. He will guide you too. 2 Samuel 18, even in the death of David’s son. David still gave God the glory.

We need to remember to praise him in the good and the bad. Not just come to him when things are bad. We need to praise him for the good He brings to us. The Blessings, Praises He bestows to us.

No protection anywhere else

We cannot get greater protection anywhere else than with God. That enemy the devil will defeat you if you don’t raise up your shield of Faith. Keep it up!

Remember the devil will tell you there is no hope! But with God there is hope! You must trust in God! God hears and cares!

Closing

To be fully ready you must fully have on the full Armor of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18)

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

It is the faith in God that brings the shield of protection! Have faith in God. Like the old song, Have Faith in God, He watches over His own. Have Faith in God!

Also by having your shield of faith already up, you know what you won’t compromise on so you will stand firm in the Word of God when conflict or storms arise.

Also we Christians need to unite and link together our shields.

Red Alert! Raise your Shields!

  1. This is a great post! Faith is so important everyday. The enemy will challenge us and try to trip us up with every step we take. This is why it is so important to stay in God’s word and arm ourselves with his promises.

    1. Thanks for the reply. Yes faith is very important. It is important to keep faith daily. Yes, the enemy will try all he can do to destroy us. Remember he even tempted Jesus. He knows there is a real God.
