Prayers for Fallen Marines in Chattanooga

I would like to lift up prayers for the fallen Marines that were gunned down in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Please keep that Marine Corp, the families, fellow comrades and all those affected by this tragedy in your prayers as they grieve the loss of loved ones. This applies to those affected that is in the Navy too.

This is what Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. said:

“Please keep our fallen Marines in Tennessee and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Also pray for a speedy recovery of those wounded and affected by this tragedy. Our focus remains on supporting the families of our Marines.”1

If you are not sure what is happening on July 16, 2015, a man gunned down a naval recruitment building (Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center) in Chattanooga, TN. This shooting killed four of our United States Marine Corp. It also injured others. To Sum It Up!

Semper Fi,

  1. Semper fidelis is a Latin phrase that means “always faithful” or “always loyal”. In the United States it is best known as the motto of the United States Marine Corps. Elsewhere, it is a common motto for towns, families, schools, and military units.2

Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, a 40-year-old reservist with 4th Marine Division, was killed in the attack on the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Chattanooga, the Boston Globe reported. Multiple media outlets also identified Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, 37, Lance Cpl. Skip Wells, and Sgt. Carson Holmquist as the other victims of the deadly single-shooter rampage.3

The USMC will not release the names until the next of kin has been notified.

Three people were also wounded in the attack, including a sailor who was seriously hurt. According to the Boston Globe.4

The Marine Corp is dear to my heart. It is where I tried to enlist into the military after high school, but medical prevented me from enlisting.

We must also be always faithful (Semper Fidelis) in our prayers and worship to God. We also only need to pray for our soldiers over seas, we need to pray for them here at home. We also need to pray for our Nation, our Leaders, and our World. We are living in the end of times. We need to pray for each other.

It is a faithful prayer, a prayer without ceasing. A Constant communication to God.

Addition made July 18, 2015: A 5th Member has now passed away. This man was a Naval Sailor. At the time that I am updating this post, it is said his name is Randall Smith. 5

  1. This makes me so sad. My brother-in-law is a Marine and we have a lot of military in our family. I grew up not thinking much of talks of the “end of times,” but lately things have really felt like we’re heading there quickly. Let His Kingdom come and end this evil. Thank you for speaking out, Steve. Hope you are well.

  2. How horrible. I don’t know what is going on with everyone. I don’t understand that seems to be covering the world. People running around killing innocent people for no apparent reason just makes no sense. I will never get use to it. So many lost people in the world. Will pray for the soldiers and their families.
