Karma Is UnBiblical

I see a lot of people, especially Christians who keep saying about Karma about things going on with them and other people. I want to say there is no such thing as Karma. The Bible tells us we are suppose to love our enemy and those who do us wrong. We are actually to do good to them. Luke 6:28 and Matthew 5:44. Don’t worry about those who do you wrong. Give it to God. So if you believe in Karma you are going against what the Bible teaches. Wishing Karma on someone is asking for bad things to happen to someone. Notice Karma comes from Hinduism and Buddhism, two false religions, so that tells us it is not Christian based right there.

Karma
Karma

Definition of Karma from Google search.

  1. (in Hinduism and Buddhism) the sum of a person’s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.
    • informal: destiny or fate, following as effect from cause.

Another point to make we are suppose to forgive those who wrong us. If we don’t forgive them, Christ won’t forgive us. Matthew 6:14. Forgiveness is very important. You can read more about forgiveness in this blog post on Forgiveness.

No Karma

This is what I have to say there is no such thing as Karma. God wants us to give it to him our troubles. God also says vengeance is mine. See Deuteronomy 32:35 Romans 12:19. We are to cast all our cares and worries to Him. 1 Peter 5:7 & Psalm 55:22.

Interesting enough, as I am typing this up, my coworker is talking to another coworker about bad things. He is an atheist and also stated he doesn’t believe in Karma. He doesn’t think Karma exist. He believes that bad things happen to us all regardless who we are. He does make a good point to an extent. I want to go further and say no matter who we are, saved or unsaved we all have good things that happen to us and also bad things that happen to us. But there is a big difference between the saved person and the unsaved and that is the final our destination. My atheist coworker also stated to the other coworker he was talking to that we reap what we sow. This also shows you that even the unsaved knows things about God or even things from the Bible. I am sure they quote it and may not even know it came from the Bible. You can find this in Galatians 6:7-9.

We do reap what we sow as well. But, you yourself is not perfect nor is the person doing you wrong. I am sure you have done wrong to someone in your lifetime as well. Sometimes we may not even know that we done wrong onto someone. So leave it to God and don’t worry about it. Forgive! Doing good to those who do you wrong is a good thing. By you doing good to them the Bible says its like putting hot coals on their heads. See Proverbs 25:21-22.

Don’t wish bad on those who do you wrong. Do good to those who wrong you.

Christians stop using Karma! There is no such thing a Karma it is not in the Bible nor is is Christian like.

  1. I so agree!  Karma and Reincarnation seem to go together!  Hebrews 9:27 tells us that “man is appointed once to die and then the judgment.”
A Buddhist explained Karma to me this way:  “If  someone is suffering and you help them, you actually are doing them a disservice.  You see, they are suffering in order to pay for some evil they did in a previous life. If you help them, then they will have to come back in the next life and suffer all over again.”

  2. @Kathleen Thanks Kathleen for the comment. Yes, they two do go in hand. Yes, That is a good verse Hebrews 9:27. Thanks for sharing it. Oh wow, that is interesting quote. The Bible tells us other wise. It tells us to love everyone even our enemies. It even tells us to do good to those who do us wrong and even to help other people. I don’t think people really think about things they say or that, like Karma or even new way to use God’s name in vain etc. Again, thanks for the comment. I greatly appreciated it.

  3. As Solomon once said, “there is nothing new under the sun.” ~ Ecclesiastes 1:9.  Good description and Biblical reasoning declaring the word KARMA as null and void.  Though history does repeat itself…it’s not KARMA.  “That which is now already has been, and that which is to be already has been; and God seeks (NOT “karma”) that which has passed by [so that history repeats itself]” ~ Ecclesiastes 3:15 AMP.

  4. It is interesting to see the different definitions on the web when one types in “what is Karma.” It is definitely associated with HInduism and Buddhism. One website said, “Karma is the invisible power that balances the universe. Your actions have consequences. Your world today is just a reflection of your past.” We must be very careful to hold tightly to God’s Word of truth. Thanks for your post to advocate for God’s truth in this area.

  5. amyhagerup Yes I know I think Karma is a worldly world, if that makes sense. SO true, we must stay true to God’s Word. What we say or do could damage our testimony. Thanks for the comment Amy and your welcome for this blog post.

  6. I think a lot of Christians use words and buy into believing things without really understanding how opposed the ideas are to a life of faith.  “Karma” is one thing we need to remove from our vocabulary, lest we be more influenced than we realize.  thanks Steve

  7. @Karen I agree with you. They do believe without looking more into it. They will believe any one says this is in the Bible or not in the Bible, without digging in and finding out for themselves. We as Christians our words and actions can affect others around us. A difference between them accepting Jesus or not. Thanks Karen for the comment.

  8. @Mel Thompson Thanks Mel for the comment. I like that verse in Ecc. With God there is nothing new. God knows all things. I do wished people would quit calling Karma as when bad happens to you because you done bad. I think some of these people don’t realize they have done bad too. God forgives! God is the one who has the final say, not us. We need a strikeout for the word KARMA. God Bless Mel!

  9. I actually back it up one verse …

Matthew 5:44-45New King James Version (NKJV)
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A44-45&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-23279a] 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
