I made the Courageous Pledge (Known as the The Resolution)

February 26, 2012 at Church I did the Courageous Pledge (The Resolution) with the other men of my church as well. This is based from the movie Courageous.

I made the Courageous Pledge (Known as the The Resolution)

That is a very, moving and uplifting movie. This whole month of February our pastor has preached on the male being the spiritual leader and setting the example as the spiritual leader as well. I today made my pledge before God to set the example and be Courageous. Please keep me and my family in your prayers and I encourage all you men out there to do the same. God bless you all. Below is the Courageous Pledge.

The Resolution! Courageous Pledge

I DO solemnly resolve before God to take full responsibility for myself, my wife, and my children.
I WILL love them, protect them, serve them, and teach them the Word of God as the spiritual leader of my home.
I WILL be faithful to my wife, to love and honor her, and be willing to lay down my life for her as Jesus Christ did for me.
I WILL bless my children and teach them to love God with all of their hearts, all of their minds, and all of their strength.
I WILL train them to honor authority and live responsibly.
I WILL confront evil, pursue justice, and love mercy.
I WILL pray for others and treat them with kindness, respect, and compassion.
I WILL work diligently to provide for the needs of my family.
I WILL forgive those who have wronged me and reconcile with those I have wronged.
I WILL learn from my mistakes, repent of my sins, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God.
I WILL seek to honor God, be faithful to His church, obey His Word, and do His will.
I WILL courageously work with the strength God provides to fulfill this resolution for the rest of my life and for His glory.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. — Joshua 24:15

  1. I am starting to read "The Resolution for Men" it is a book to better help you take the Resolution. It also shows the Resolution in the book. Also there is a book, "The Resolution for Women" I gave this book to Debbie. She said this is her favorite author who helped did the women's version. It show's the Women's Version of the Resolution. It is similar in some ways and different in others.

  2. this is a Movie every home should watch and follow the lesson.

  4. Brian Scott says:

    Steve,

I don’t know why I haven’t seen this post. I remember when this movie came out. I bought it right away! I have watched it countless times and every time I cry at the part he dances in the parking lot. As a father of two girls, this movie moves me on so many levels!

Where can I get that resolution? I’d love to hang it on my wall, as a symbol of faith and devotion to God and my family.

    1. It is a very great movie. That is a very sad part too and it does tear me up as well. For the most part I think like Life Way in a few other Christian bookstores sell them or they used to. My church did it as a group of men. I have mine hanging up on my wall. It’s hanging up with the other pictures.

    2. Btw Brian, I have nearly 1600 published blog post to check
      Out.

      1. Brian Scott says:

Oh I check them out periodically. I see them in the Christians of East Tennessee FB group.
I hope you have been checking out my new project. I’m hoping when I get through my story others will let me share theirs and how God has impacted their lives.
