Hindering Walks

We as Christians will always have hindrances in our walk with Christ. We get tempted, thrown off track, distracted and discouraged. We just need to learn to stay focus, pray and rid the distractions. Some distractions come as possessions, some come as a person. There are many out there. These hindrances are mostly the devil trying to get us away from Christ.

What is a hindering walk? Anything that can negatively affect your Spiritual Walk, closeness or relationship with Christ. Anything that pushes you away from God. Remember a true friend will bring you closer to God, not away from God.

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hopeAnd hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Romans 5:3-4)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-4)

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent(Luke 15:7)

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)

If the hindrance is going to cause us to sin we need to pray on it and get rid of it. God ask us to endure, but I know there are times we cannot endure some of it. We will always have the flaming arrows of the Devil coming at us. That is why we need to have on the Armor of God. This is why Growth through Study (studying the Bible) is important.

Just like bad sins, we are to repent and turn away. Sometimes people come into our lives to test us. Sometimes they come to take us off course. Some come and try to get us to totally turn away from God. They will stop at no cost to try to through you off your walk with Christ. Some will make you second guess what you are doing.

Remember even the devil knows Scriptures and can use that against you!

The devil even tempted Jesus and used Scriptures. The devil tempted Jesus while he was in the Wilderness. You can refer to Matthew 4:1-11.

When we do get tested, we need to pray for the will of God. He will show us what to do. We need to pray for the change in the sins we do, so we can repent and turn away from them. We need to pray for those who try to hinder our relationship with Christ.

A lot of times following Christ means giving up a lot. You may give up your whole life so you can follow Him. Give up friends, family, coworkers, possessions, and more. But what a great gift is to follow Christ and make sacrifices for Him. After all Christ paid the greatest debt for ALL OF US! He died on the Cross for our sins so we will have everlasting life with Him and our Father in Heaven. As shown in John 3:16.

If someone is hindering your walk, commit to pray for them. If you know someone lost or not living the life they should, commit to pray for them too. If you have sins hindering your walk, commit to pray for that the repenting (turning away) of those sins. If it is a possession, then ask God to help you remove that possession from your being. Have an open heart when you pray. God will show you the answer He has for you.

Then, when you feel strong enough and equipped with enough of the Word of God to go into Spiritual Battle with the one causing hindrance then I believe you go back, but we do need to be ready at any time. For we do not know when the Lord will come. He could come by the time you finish reading this blog entry.

If you do feel hindered, pray, seek God’s Word and get back on focus. Keep that Armor on and ready! Ask others to pray for you too. Open your Bible and study!

Don’t allow it to discourage you! A song that I like to hear when I feel discourage is a song by Sidewalk Prophets, The Words I Would Say.

What do you do when you feel someone hindering your walk with Christ?
