Forgiveness

The Bible says we are to forgive others or Christ won’t forgive us. Do you want your sins forgiven? Then we must forgive others for sinning against us (or doing wrong unto us). Christ died for our sins so we can be forgiven. He became our sacrificial lamb. See the Bible verses in the list below.

  • Mark 11:25-26
  • Matthew 6:14-15
  • Luke 6:35-38
  • Matthew 18:35
"To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." (Forgiveness) #Forgiveness

I like this quote “A wise man will make haste to forgive, because he knows the true value of time, and will not suffer it to pass away in unnecessary pain.”

East to West Sea of Forgetfulness

Christ casts our sins into the sea of forgetfulness. Our sins were cast as far as the East is from the West. Not to mention, our sins to be remembered no more. So where is the sea of forgetfulness? Well, it is a place that I wouldn’t want to know where it is. Because all is forgotten there.

How far exactly is the East from the West? Well just think the Earth is round so, you can keep going and going. If you travel East you will always travel in the direction of East. The same applies if you are traveling West. Notice it never said from the North to the South. Once you reach the most Northern point and you continue traveling now you are traveling South. Same way if you go to the most Southern Point now you are going North. So North to South has a defendant ending point. The East to the West or West to the East doesn’t. It just keeps going. Almost like the Energizer Bunny, that keeps going and going. Just the same, God’s forgiveness keeps going and is everlasting. If God can forgive our sins, shouldn’t we forgive the sins of others and ourselves? See the Bible verses in the list below.

Quotes

Forgiveness is simply a loving courtesy we extend to others because God extends that same love and courtesy to us. It is taking someone off of our hook and placing them at the altar of God…and trusting God to deal with the person in His way and His time.

Listen to this song by Casting Crowns “East to West” that talks about forgiveness and sins that are cast as far as the East is from West

Psalm 103:12 is where the above song came from. That verse reads, “As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

Bible verses on Forgiving one another

  • Ephesians 4:32
  • Colossians 3:13

I like what I heard at Johnny Hunt’s Men’s Conference: Love the Sinner and Hate your Own Sin. Usually, we hear Love the Sinner and Hate the Sin. But I like it better to say hate your own sin. You are only responsible for yourself no one else’s salvation but your own.

  1. Thank for the beautiful blog. I love what you are writing about our sins, who were cast as far as the East is from the West.

  2. Very thorough guidance, Steve. I like that you mention relationships are helped by our forgiveness. There was a course I used to teach and we did a simple exercise where we’d have people quickly write down the five most important people in their lives and then after that, circle the ones they’ve had conflict with. Of course, in just about all cases every name is circled and it is because of forgiveness and the forging of a stronger relationship and understanding with one another. This is a great step towards learning to love and forgive more like Christ. Thank you!

  3. “Forgiveness is the F bomb we don’t hear dropped enough.” Love that and so true. I think what people often don’t realize is how much forgiveness truly frees us. We are free from the bitterness that holding grudges creates. Thanks so much for sharing this. Great truths here.

  4. So much good information here Steve. Forgiveness, confession and repentance are keys in living godly. As we move forward this week and proclaim Christ as our redeemer on Easter Sunday leaves no excuse for forgiving others. Have a great Easter Steve.

  5. abbymcd7 I heard that quote on Air1 one day in 2013. I had to add it to the post after I heard it. This was on my heart so I republished this post. It does set us free and people don’t see that. It is weight lifted up. You are welcome for me sharing and thanks for the comment. God Bless.

  6. Kristi Miller Yeap they are, two people forgiving each others past and present and future. That’s a true relationship like the one we have with Christ. Nice idea on that. Yes forgiveness is a step toward love, a love like Christ loved. Thanks for the comment Kristi. God Bless. I hope you and the family are feeling better.

  7. Oh, wow. Such good resources here. You have thoroughly covered the topic of forgiveness, something many have difficulty doing. You are so right, sin binds us. Forgiveness sets us free and represents true obedience to our Father. During the Holy Week I remember the ultimately sacrifice He made for us. In spite of the way He was treated while on earth. He forgave us. We must forgive others.

  8. msanders0761 Thanks Yeap it is comprehensive. I done research and kept adding to this post as something new came. Since this was on my heart, I figured it was best to do more edits and clean it up some and republishing it for others to see too. Yes, forgiveness does set us free and God is the founder of forgiveness. That is why He sent us His Son to die for us to truly set us free. Yes, that was the ultimate sacrifice. I done a blog post about the Ultimate Super Hero and taught it to the Middle School Youth. Yes we must forgive others. It is very important. Thanks for the comment.

  9. Yes Steve, Forgiveness is two ways, three actually from God to us ALL, that is Done Given All, and so we each get taught to forgive as God has forgiven us already, and me in trying I see “I” Can’t, for my(“I”) gets me in troubles

Like, I want to be Forgiven “BUTT” here comes that Billy Goat BUTT
I don’t forgive, because, because, because

Yet God Father through Son Jesus has, past tense forgiven us, completed at the death for us. No new life was given, none just forgiven
The New life is in the risen Christ that Father gives, not anyone alse
It’s beleif that starts the set free

Yes Forgive, yet, Has anyone, gone to others, and revealed their own sin(s) they did to them, that they did not know you had done to them?

You Want to be Free, talk to Father in Spirit and Truth and get led to do as Father sees, not self or this world’s teaching of mixed up truth

Oh when I get asked how am I
The usual is I am just Fine

    Frustrated
    Insecure
    Neurotic
    Emotional

Time to be Honest and learn from Father and Son as Won for us to do as what is best for each of us

You know the Corinthians took for Granted the Forgiveness that was preached to them,
That is why Paul wrote that first ;letter to them

They were under the Thought, Wow, I am forgiven, so then since I am , I can do whatever I want and remain forgiven, YES and so they did,

YET, not one of them were saved, those that did this under the guise of the forgiveness given them, that they would stay forgiven

Which is True about being Forgiven, Yet Not True about being Saved

1 Cor 1: 1-4 is all those with Love and yet are not Saved, know they are forgiven, just not saved, uses it for their gain, sitting in Moses’ seat
verses 4-7, is God’s Love given us, and we using it of our self, one can’t do it ever not perfectly

God saves us when anyone believes, the new life Begins, and God puts up with us, trains and teaches us, yet if one does not seek, one does not find out, if one stops and thinks one knows, look out, PRIDE has entered
    2 Cor 12:7-10
    Phil 3:1-15
Seeing that verse that Paul states this fact, He put what is past behind him, his sin, his pride, learning being taught humility
    To see
To say not that I have gained, even though it sounds like he has, Wow
Woe is me as in Isaiah 6:1-6

This is high deep and wide, I have to look up to see down, through God’s Telescope and Just Love as said in 1 Coe 13:13, regardless what others do or not do, God has done it all for us all to relax in
    Hebrews 4:9-11
Thanks rother for the keen understanding God has given you
