Fathers: Old TV Show Dads

Old TV Show Dads – Remember back in the good ole days? When TV shows were actually more appropriate? Do you remember some of these old tv show dads from those tv shows?

Fathers: Old TV Show Dads

Growing up I remember watching these TV Dads and their shows. Today’s shows don’t seem like what they use to be. Below are some of the TV Dads and the shows I remember. With Father’s Day coming up, I figured I would do this blog post about Father’s and use TV Show Dads and then talk about Earthly Father’s and then our Heavenly Father.

List of TV Show Dads

  • Dr. “Cliff” Healthcliff Huxtable (The Cosby Show)
  • Andy Taylor (The Andy Griffith Show)
  • Danny Tanner (Full House) & Actually the other men, were the uncles but were like dads to the Tanner girls.
  • Carol Winslow (Family Matters)
  • Jason Seaver (Growing Pains)
  • Steven Keaton (Family Ties)
  • Ray Barone (Everybody Loves Raymond)
  • Charles Ingalls (Little House on the Prairie)
  • Ward Cleaver (Leave it to Beaver)
  • Michael PaulMikeBrady (Brady Bunch)
  • Steve Douglas (My Three Sons)
  • Jim Anderson (Father Knows Best)
  • Eric Camden (7th Heaven)
  • Howard Cunningham (Happy Days)

Even older school TV Show Dads where the list can go on.

Even including some dads with poor judgement, like on Rose Anne (Dan Conner), Married with Children (Al Bundy), That ’70s Show (Red Forman), and I am sure that list can go on too.

They don’t make TV shows like these anymore where they have a good role model father. The children and the father seemed to always learn some type of lesson. Most of them were life lessons.

Best Father We Can

Nevertheless we should be the best father we can to our children and to our wives. We should be the spiritual leader, setting the example. How can you tell your kid not to do something when you’re doing it yourself.

Wanted look to the perfect example of a father? Then look no further than above! Our Heavenly Father, our Creator. He will never desert us or leave us. He is the perfect example of how a father should be.

Earthly fathers sometimes come and go. Sometimes you have a non-present father, like I did growing up. Being human we tend to think our Heavenly Father does the same thing as our earthly father does. But that’s not true. He’s always there for us. He is the one that we always can turn to.

Be Courageous

So Christian fathers, I encourage you to take a stand, be courageous, bring up your home in a Christ-based home. read your Bible and study it with your children and your wife (if your still married). If you’re like me, a single father study it with your child(ren).

I recommend watching the movie Courageous & Fireproof. Take the resolution and take it seriously. Another book to read the beside the Bible to help you on the resolution is called “The Resolution for Men“.

Check out my Acronym for the word “Father“.

Can you name any other Old TV Show dad that was a great influence?

Be sure to share in the comments what dad and from what show. Please include why that dad as well. I just might add that to the list above.

Tell me your favorite TV Dad?
