Junior Prom

Your children truly do grow up too fast. That is why it is important to keep them instilled in church and Biblical principles in what God want’s for them and how they should live. Honoring your Father and Mother, like in the 10 Commandments. (See Exodus 20:12 | Ephesians 6:2 | Matthew 15:4) and even standards when it comes to dating and purity, True Love Waits.

I know it has been a hard struggle for me and even Amber. I am a both father and mother. I know there is a lot that she won’t come to me about just because of that I am not a woman and it is hard for a father to be a mother too. I know it is the same way for women who are both mother and father’s. My mom was one. She raised up my sister and I without my father in my life. Just like I am doing with my daughter without her mother in her life. It can be hard, but I do know one thing that God always see us through and always provides.

Because I know God always see us through I know that my daughter is in great hands, she is in the best hands of all … God’s Mighty Hands! You must keep that faith in God and trust in Him.

Tonight is prom for her high school. She is now a Junior in high school plus she has a birthday in a week. It is hard to believe how fast they grow up. I encourage you to cherish the times you have with your children because before you know it they will be grown. Time does get faster the older you get.

Plus, the dating stage can be scary for a father toward his daughter. That is why Biblical standards are important to give to your children. Raise a child in the way of the Lord and when they get older they will not depart from it. (See Proverbs 22:6) We must pray over our children for a godly spouse for them. I always tell my daughter and the youth at church, get your school done first. I tell the ladies if the man you are interested in puts God first, he will be good to you. I also tell the guys that if the woman you are interested in puts God first she will be good to you. You must have a Christ-centered relationship. One that has Christ in the picture and each of you must put Him first even before each other.

I ask that you pray for all the youth out there this prom season. I pray for safety for them and for them to make wise Biblical choices. I not only pray for my daughter, her date, my youth at church and their dates, but all youth everywhere going through prom around the world.
