Have you all heard about the Ice Cream Sandwich that won’t melt? The Wal-mart’s Great Value brand Ice Cream Sandwiches won’t melt. According to WCPO they investigated it and said that it is because of a stabilizer in the product. Gum based. The nutritionist they spoke to claims that it is still safe for humans to eat. She also stated that it in other types of ice cream to help give it a cream taste and help prevent crystallization in ice cream when in the freezer.  Check out these videos on YouTube of people showing this product not melting.

According to Snopes, Ice cream melts based on the ingredients including cream. Ice cream with more cream will generally melt at a slower rate, which is the case with our Great Value ice cream sandwiches.

I have seen people claiming that it is similar in compounds to almost being plastic. If that is true or not, I am not sure. But may make since in why it won’t melt, but maybe the gum product is what they believe makes it similar to plastic.

Did you know National Ice Cream Sandwich Day is held August 2 of each year? No clue when this holiday started. If someone knows, feel free to share that with me.

Have you tried the Ice Cream Sandwich experiment? Will you still eat this brand knowing they won’t melt? Does anyone know any other similar product that won’t melt?

If anyone done this experiment to see if the ice cream will melt, did you use another brand? Did it melt or not melt? Feel free to share your results in the comments.
