Camouflaged in Sin

I was talking with Jerry at my church, another youth leader. He is a big hunter and he was talking about doing a lesson on camouflage and sin. I am not sure what his lesson would be on, but that gave me an idea for a blog post. I had this on the back burner for a little while but seeing the peacock flounder below, jump started this post and got it going further.

Did you know you can be camouflaged in sin? Maybe let me put it this day, you live in the world, you blend into the world. The world don’t notice you, you do all the things the world does. That is camouflaged in sin. You blend in. Did you know we are not conformed to the world, or camouflaged in sin with the world. Romans 12:2 shows us below.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Yes, we all sin (Romans 3:23), but as Christians we should be set apart from the world. We should stand out. We should be that light. People should notice we are different and not blending in with them.

In the picture above is a Peacock Flounder, notice how it blends in with the background. A form of camouflage you can say. Maybe we talk about in hunting, hunters wear camouflage clothing so they cannot be seen. Ducky Dynasty knows all about this. Even the military uses camouflage, they even have dessert camo. Another animal you can look at that blends in is the chameleon. You can easily get lost in sin.

Now if you look close, you can see it, but if you look further back you cannot see it, everything blends in it.

So let’s try not be like the world and blend in. Let’s shed that light (Matthew 5:13-16). Let’s be different. Let’s be TRANSFORMED!

I just recently posted blog entries  on Aquariums and Zoos, this camouflaged lesson would make a great lesson to teach at those locations as well. Check out these post

Sin is evident that we need a Savior and God sent us that Savior, his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Just because Jesus died for our sins, doesn’t mean we have a license to sin. Have you taken Jesus as your personal Savior? Have you truly repented (turn away, change of direction, removed the camouflage of sin? If not, then please do so now! We are never promised tomorrow. (Matthew 6:34) and today is the day for Salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2) .

Here is a verse too. Thanks to Leisa Price, who commented with it below. So I figured I would edit this post to add that verse to this post. James 4:4

You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Some of my blog post work great for Bible Studies and youth groups. I have used some of my old blog post just for that.

  1. James 4:4, ”

You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

  2. Camouflaged in sin , I never thought about sin like that , but that is so true , we hide our sin to blend in with others in the world , FOOD FOR THOUGHT , THANKS BROTHER IN CHRIST

  3. I never did either until Jerry was talking to me and was given me a general premise. I was like that’s a good idea. He said he can put on his camo in his leafy suit nobody available spot him in the woods. That was a couple months ago and then I went to the aquarium and saw that flounder peacock and it put my half watt lit light bulb back on again to write this blog post.

  4. No we cannot hide our lives but sadly people have them to blend in with the world. People a blend in so that they are not persecuted or made fun of or the like. I believe it’s someone’s doing that they may need to do a reality check and check their actual true salvation or repent and let light shine. Thanks for the comment Lora.

  5. As Christians we are supposed to stand out from the rest

    2 Corinthians 6:17

    New King James Version (NKJV)

    17 Therefore

    “Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
    And I will receive you.”
