The Blood Moon What is that?

 Blood Moon

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes,” Joel 2:31.

According to NASA, a highly unusual ‘Tetrad’ – four successive total ‘blood-red’ lunar eclipses each followed by six full moons – will, indeed, the first one on April 15, 2014 and finish on September 28 2015.

The first was said to be in 1493. It has also been said there has been 4 others prior to 1493. It has been said that last several ones that occurred it with tragedy for the Jewish people and occurred during a Jewish Feast Holiday. Interesting enough these next 4 series occur during Jewish holidays, The Passover and the Feast of the Tabernacle.

This occurrence has happened 3 times in 500 years.

  • 1493 — Spain’s rulers had expelled all Jews and Columbus had discovered America, an eventual haven for the Jewish people.
  • 1948-49 — The founding of Israel.
  • 1967-68 — Following the Six-Day War, Jerusalem rejoins the state of Israel.

So far with the 2014-15 Blood Moon Series I haven’t heard of anything that happened with the Jewish people or Nation.

The Blood Moon is a type of lunar eclipse. The moon will be red. It has to do the the alignment of other Mars, Earth, & the Sun in our solar system. It occurs as a set of 4 blood moons. It will be visible from the Americas. These blood moons will happen back to back with no other type of lunar eclipses in between these set of four.

The first one occur April 15, 2014, Passover, which is near Easter. I didn’t get to see it because it was rainy and cloudy.

The second October 8, 2014 near the Feast of the Tabernacle, or called Sukkot. I didn’t get to see this one either, because it was overcast with drizzle rain.

Then the third on April 4, 2015 during Passover. I did not get to see this one either.

The final and fourth of the Blood Moon Series is on  September 28, 2015 during the Feast of the Tabernacles or called Sukkot. It will also be a Super Moon on top of a Blood Moon. So this last one will be a Super Blood Moon, it should be big and red and close.

Did you know that 2015 is also also a Shemittah Year. (7th Year, meaning the Year of Rest).

If you want to see it, you may need to plan some time to see it. Bring a chair and something to keep you warm. Go to a place with not much city lights either. There are various sites that say around Midnight to around 1 a.m., while others say 3 a.m. According to NASA’s they say it should start around 2 a.m. and and last until about 5 a.m. Some say right before sunrise as the moon sets, around 6:25 a.m.

According to NASA’s web site, I couldn’t find too much on the blood moon, just the scientific, about shadows of the sun and the alignment and that it will gradually change to the color red through the phase of the eclipse. They call it a total lunar eclipse and it is the alignment of the sun, earth and the moon. While another source stated Mars was also involved.

According to the National Geographic web site, The moon looks red during a total lunar eclipse because the sun’s light refracts through Earth’s atmosphere and onto the lunar disk. If Earth had no atmosphere, the moon would look black during a total eclipse.

At 4:54 a.m. PDT, totality begins—that’s when the moon is fully engulfed in the umbral shadow and turns a shade of orange-red. Totality will last as long as 12 minutes, with the rest of the eclipse ending at 6:45 a.m. PDT. (This and the time charge below via National Geographic Web site, link below) Chart is for the third viewing.

Nevertheless, no matter the occurrence, God created it and has a purpose for it occurring. See Genesis 1:14
Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
We just have to trust in Him, and not lean onto our own understanding.
It is said by Bible prophesy that these blood moons show that the end of times is near. As you have seen in this blog post, we have had many past Blood Moons and the world has not ended yet.

I am not saying that the end is not near, because we are living in the end if times. But, no one knows when that last day will be. Not the angels or Jesus. Only God the father! It could be today, tomorrow, next year, 100 years from now. We won’t know until that day happens, but we must be ready and not let it slip by like a thief in the night. We must be ready!

It could very well be, however, the Bible is clear in Mark 13:32 and Matthew 24:36 who both tell us that no man will know the hour, not even the angels know. It does also say the Son, Jesus doesn’t know. The only one that knows is our Father in Heaven, God, our Creator. But it is certain we are already living in the end of times. It does say it will be like in the days of Noah and Lot.

No matter if Jesus comes now, around the Blood Moon or in the future, we must be ready for Jesus to come as if he is to come this very second. We are never promised tomorrow. I have even heard people call this the Red Moon Rapture. Like I mentioned we will not know the hour the Lord will come back for His Church. Only God knows!

Claiming the end of times is here is serious, but more can be learned by studying eschatology. The study of end of times. That is actually one of my classes that I took for my degree in theology. But this is why it is important to study God’s word so that if you hear false doctrine, you will realize it right away and not follow it. But, I do believe God is always trying to get our attention and show us He is in control. We must turn away from our sinfulness and come to Him. We are never promised tomorrow (Matthew 6:34)

Another Bible verses that talk about the Blood Moon, a red moon or the moon turning into blood.

  • Acts 2:20

The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.

One thing in those verses it also talks about the sun to darkness, almost sounds like a solar eclipse. Complete darkness like the last 3 hours of when Jesus hung on the Cross. There was also a solar eclipse between these sets of Blood Moons too.

So what are your thoughts? Concerns? What have you heard? Are you going to see it, or if it has already occurred when you when you see this blog post, what were your thoughts of seeing this?

BTW, I did see a lot of people post on twitter that around 3 am tweets saying they could see it red, with the first blood moon. So that may be a good time too.

The first two in 2014, I didn’t get to see it was over cast and rainy here. We did get rain and storms again just before the lunar eclipse, but they say the East Coast of the US may only see a partial eclipse around or about 6 a.m. Eastern and tt will only last a few minutes. But those on the West Coast will have the best chances to see this third blood moon, on the West Coast it will be around the 4 a.m. Pacific time frame. It was still over coast and rainy for this third one for me.

I hope I can catch the fourth & final blood moon and pray there is no overcast or rain in September. I would like to be able to see this awesome amazing creation of God turn red. I am not sure when next time this will occur. As you can see it has been on recorded to happen 3 times in the last 500 years.

From what I read it usually around every 300 years or so, sometimes sooner and other times more. But I did see something that said this may occur up to 17 more times this century. I cannot find where it says the next occurrence of Blood Moons is suppose to be.

No matter if Christ comes before this occurs, after or even 1,000 years from now, are we ready? What if He came back right this very second?

Are you ready?
