Blessing Bags

Blessing Bags – Fill a bag full of usable items and give them away to those in need like the homeless.  Maybe a great way to share the love of of Christ instead of giving cash out to a stranger. #BlessingBags

Blessing Bags

I saw this on Facebook and believe this is a great way to reach the homeless. I wanted to share with you all. A great way to show that you care. I know most of all of us see homeless people out and about as we travel or head to work/school.

Also known as a Hope Bag, because it can bring hope to the person you gave it to.

I know most of you are want to do something, but you don’t want to give them money, you are afraid of what they will do with the money if you gave it to them.

I saw another great idea, this works great to hand to females. Use a purse and fill the bag with items.

These blessing bags are a great way to give them some basics of what they need.

Important:

If you are including soap or products that do not have a tight seal please wrap them separately in their own plastic baggies then put it in the big bag as soap can taint the food items real quick and leave everything smelling and tasting like soap) Or you can do two bags and give to them. Do one bag with just food in it and another bag with the soaps and toiletry items, etc.

The ideas could be endless!

Assemble all the items in the bags, and maybe throw in a note of encouragement. The list is just suggestions, you can add your own ideas. Sum it up, be sure to include some kind of toiletries, HBA, and some kind of snacks. Try to make sure they are more nutritious as well. Non-perishable too!

Feel free to share what else you would include in the comments below.

Gospel of John’s

Gospel of John’s are great for both Christian’s and Non-Christian’s. It can give them something to read and possibly either learn about Jesus or learn more about Jesus. The Gospel of John is the recommended book of the Bible to have people start reading. (Check this blog post out on places to get Free Gospel of John’s) Like a Life Book too.

Love of God

Do this because you want to share the LOVE of GOD and bless others. Seal the bags and stow in your car for a moment of providence.

Doing research I found where this Facebook post came from. It was on KWAV’S Kids with a vision blog. Of course more items were added to this list I have than what was posted on KWAV’s blog.

Feedback

Do you do these blessing bags? Tell me about your experience handing these out. Do you have any items I should add to the list? Please feel free to comment and share. Thanks

  1. We are to love our neighbor as ourselves. This is a perfect tool. I hope to use this in the future<3. So glad you shared.

  2. What a great idea! I always struggle with how to handle the situation when people approach me for money. I had heard the idea about food certificates but never really moved forward; however, this sounds like a very creative idea.
