Be Sheep Not Goats! The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations

Be Sheep Not Goats! Jesus will separate the sheep and the goats on the final judgement. This is the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats where the Son of Man will judge the Nations.

Be Sheep Not Goats!

Below is where the Parable of the Sheep and Goats are in the Bible. So Be Sheep Not Goats!

Matthew 25:31-46 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.

32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.

33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

To the Sheep

34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;

36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?

38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?

39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’

40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

To the Goats

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;

43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’

45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’

46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Final Judgement
Be Sheep Not Goats!

This is a picture of the final judgement day known as the Judgement Seat of Christ. Not to mention, He will judge everyone at the same time. The Goats are the lost and the Sheep are the saved. This is a Last Days, eschatology type ordeal too.

The Sheep

The Sheep (on His right) are known as the Children of God.

34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

The Goats

The Goats (on His left) are the lost. They have always been used symbolically in the Bible as being wicked.

41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

αἰώνιος Everlasting
(Greek – aiōnios)

The keyword in that verse is everlasting. Aiōnios is Greek for everlasting. This is Strong’s #G166. This word means without beginning and end, that which always has been and always will be. That means there is no end to the torture the goats will suffer too. It is eternal and ever lasting. Once you are in hell, the Lake of Fire, Everlasting Fire, you are there for eternity there is no getting out of hell. Satan will be there for torture too. Satan will be ruler of hell, not to mention, nor will he have a party there either.

46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Which side do you want on?
The Goats or the Sheep?

Jesus is the answer. Only with Jesus can we gain eternal life in Heaven. He is the Way, The Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Jesus. See John 14:6. This clearly shows us that there is one way.

Rejecting Jesus will send you to the eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. Rejecting Christ is the only sin that is not forgiven. All other sins can be forgiven if you accept Jesus Christ. What is stopping you today from accepting Jesus? Remember we are never promised tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation!

  1. Excellent post and very timely. I’m beginning to think the sheep and the goats are already separating themselves–on their own. More and more it seems people are either drawn to Jesus or to the world. It won’t be a difficult task for Jesus when He returns.

  2. A terrific condensed teaching on the “sheep” / “goat” promises in Matthew. Ezekiel 34:17 also has a comparable teaching on judgement of sheep & goats as well:
“And as for yiuy, O My flock, thus says the Lord God; Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, between the rams and the great he-goats [the malicious and the tyrants of the pasture].” ~ Amplified Bible.
All, I can say is: “BAAH!”
