Baptist: To Be or Not To Be

I read an article from Christian Index called Why Should I Stay A Baptist1 written by Paul Baxter. It is a short article but it gets to the point and is sound in my opinion. I wanted to share that with you all my readers. I briefly share that I agree with his article.

Baptist: To Be or Not To Be

One thing I do know that religion doesn’t save us, only the blood of Jesus Christ with true repentance. The only way to the Father is through the Son. See John 14:6.

People of the Bible

I do know that the Baptist Faith has sound biblical doctrine which stands on the Word of God. They are Bible people like the article from Baxter states. The Baptist faith will stand on the Word of God no matter what politically correct is.

Mission Minded

I also agree with the article on the Baptist Faith is mission minded. We help missionaries around the world. We take up offerings like the Lottie Moon, Golden State, Annie Armstrong and others. Missions that support local, state, the united states and all other countries.

Saved by the Grace of God

Yes the Baptist also believe we are saved by the Grace of God and we cannot save ourselves as stated in Baxters third point. Quoting Ephesians 2:8-10.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Closing on Baptist Faith

I do know that the Baptist faith numbers have been decreasing and I have heard that non-denominational churches are increasing. But, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord through the Baptist faith. I do believe personally it is the faith that stands truly on the Word of God. I also agree with how Baxter closed his article.

I am aware of some other Christian churches and denominations that would describe themselves in these terms, but I know of none that would lure me to stop being a Baptist. Some have a less biblical, though historical, form of baptism while others have a less democratic polity. We have every reason to stay in a Southern Baptist church where the Bible is taught and preached, Missions are promoted and supported, and Born Again People are encouraging and equipping one another to be witnesses for Christ.1

I will say that your denomination doesn’t save you. Only Jesus Christ can save you. The Church cannot save you, a pastor cannot save you, and so on. Only Jesus Can save you! I do believe that the Baptist Faith stands on the Word of God.
