A License to Sin

A License to Sin. A lot of people think that because they are under grace they can do as they please, a license to sin you can call it. But that is not true at all!

A license to sin

Galatians 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

I am sure the title of this post may have got your attention. So is there such a thing? Does that mean being a Christian we can continue to sin (license to sin)? Find out in this blog post. I republished this post and adding it to the Road Signs of the Bible series.

License to Sin

There is no such thing! People will say that God gave us a free will to do what we want, but that doesn’t mean we have a license to sin. As humans we ALL sin. Even me. Even Mr. Nice Guy (Way of the MasterAre You A Good Person). We are not sinless, but as Christians we should strive to sin less.

Did you know that Jesus died on the Cross for the sins of the World? That mean he died for you, me, our friends, family, for EVERYONE! We are to ask forgiveness and repent from our sins. The word repent means to turn away from or change of mind. As Christians we should strive to live like Christ and not be of this World. (Romans 12:2). I believe that a lot of people thing because we are saved by the grace of God we can live the way we want. WRONG!

Things to consider

How will people know you are of Christ if you are living in the World? Our actions are a good indicator if we are truly saved or not. How can the world tell that you are saved if you do the same thing they do. They will say why should I go to church when they do the same thing I do? If we are of Christ, we are a new Creation. The old saying is, Proof is in the Pudding. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

The Bible says that if we love Him, we will keep his commandments. (John 14:15). The Bible also tell us we must obey God, not man. (Acts 5:29). Remember Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6). Grace doesn’t mean we keep sinning either. (Romans 6:1)

We cannot serve two masters. We can live right and obey Christ or we can disobey Christ and live in sin. (Matthew 6:24, Luke 16:13)

“But as the One who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16)

Do you want Jesus to come you doing what you are doing?

Just think of it this way. If Jesus Christ was say to come right now, would you want Him to come doing that sin you are doing currently right now that you are living in? Wouldn’t you be ashamed of that? We should live as if Christ is going to come this very second.

Harley Howard says it this way.  “Liberty is never a license to sin! God did not make us free to be back in bondage. To give freedom to worship Him Lord.”

No License to Sin!

We do not have a license to sin, so our license to sin is denied! Yes, we can go to Christ and ask forgiveness, but we should strive to live as clean and pure as we can. To live as close to sin less as we can. Just think since Jesus died for our sins, shouldn’t we show gratitude for Him and live a clean and close life? Just because Jesus died for our sins, doesn’t mean we can live in open sin or continue to keep sinning. As Christians, we want to strive to not sin, to turn away. We will want to feel the Holy Spirit, our guide telling us we are doing wrong so we can correct that and strive to no longer do that. So no we do not have a license to sin because Jesus died for our sins. Think of it this way. Do you want Jesus to come as you are in the act of that sin?

Check out these verses in Hebrews 10:26-30.

26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

There it shows we do not have a license to sin. It also shows that we cannot reject the Mosaic Laws, or the 10 Commandments. If we reject the laws are pretty much dragging Jesus in the mud and walking all over Him. This also shows that God is a just God and will seek out punishment.

I plan to get the graphic I designed up using the Mr. Nice Guy image and making a tract out of it. Since I use tracts to witness.
