Last night, August 30, 2013. I got to see the film, Hope for Hurting Hearts at my church with the youth at Piedmont Baptist Church. I wanted to share my review (my take) of this film.
This film is set up as a documentary. It shows us that we all go through trials and tribulations. Death, Disease, Financial and the list can go on and on. We may think that we cannot bare what is going on. This film shows us there is a way and who that way is. It is narrated by Dr. James Dobson.
Some people in the film & my take
Below are some of the cast and people sharing their stories in this film. If you click on their pictures to the right, it will take you to their web site.
Greg Laurie is a Senior Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, CA and shares God’s Word in this film. “The good news is we know a God who loves us. A God who is in control. A God that can cause all things to work together for good. A God that can bring beauty out of ashes and joy out of mourning. That is what this film is about. We are telling three stories of how God came to us and made Himself real and sustained us, and now hopefully through us He will bring hope to others.”
I believe he presented God’s Word very well. He would also give his life experiences as well. Both him and his wife, Cathe. Find out their story in this film. I even went to iTunes to find Greg’s podcast and subscribed to him. My pastor says he listens to Greg.
Jeremy Camp who is a Christian Music artist. Jeremy is from Lafatette, IN. He shares his life story and testimony with us in this film. He talks about his wife, Melissa and her struggle with cancer. “I know it’s our desire—Greg, Cathe, Nick, and myself—that people walk out of this redeemed, restored, and understanding that there is hope in Jesus Christ.”
I love to listen to his music. But to hear his testimony, touched me. It was very moving to hear his story unfold of how he met Melissa and her battle with cancer. You won’t want to miss what he shares with the viewers in this film.
Nick Vujicic a very moving testimony from this man. He has no limbs, no arms or legs. He is from Brisbane, Australia. Find out about his story and how he came with peace. He is the CEO of a nonprofit organization called Life Without Limbs. “There is hope…Faith is believing and being certain of things you cannot see. Never give up on God, because God will not give up on you.”
Nicks testimony he shared was I believe one of the most moving stories shared on the film. He shows that there are no limits with God. That all things are possible with God. It reminds me that my pastor always says, “God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.” I think it would be an honor to be able meet Nick in person. He truly is a godly man and doesn’t let anything stand in his way of his belief in God.
This film I found was very moving and rewarding.
I am sure no matter the stories, we all have stories and all have storms, trials and tribulations we go through. This film reminds us that we always have someone with us during these times. We are never alone. Another thing to remember we all go through them!
It shows we all go through trials, Christian and Non-Christian. I even had tears in my eyes as I watched these stories unfold in this film. Find out who these people found they could rely on, who they needed to find trust in. You can find the same hope, peace and comfort in one person. That person is Christ.
This film, just came out at the time of this posting. It came out July 10, 2013. It is a 75 minute film. Below is the a trailer for the film.
I also got a chance to watch it again on September 9, 2013, as the pastor played it for evening service. I still had tears as I watched it a second time. It is a very powerful movie and anyone searching for hope, which I would believe would be everyone, should watch this film.
I highly recommend this film.
Some information was also taken from Hope for Hurting Hearts press release kit.
